The Detroit Lions are anxious to put last year’s fourth-place finish in the NFC North behind them. They came into the 2025 season as the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, but the loss of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, injuries and inconsistency prevented this team from finding its rhythm and living up to expectations.

However, there is little doubt that head coach Dan Campbell has one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. Campbell has a new offensive coordinator in Drew Petzing and that is likely to make a big difference in the way the Lions offense performs this year.

Speedy wide receiver Jameson Williams is a big believer in Petzing’s ability to bring out the best in the Lions offense. “He spreads the ball out and gives everybody a chance,” Williams said, per The Athletic. “It’s not one-sided. … We’ve got so many playmakers out there, I feel like our offense is one of those top-notch offenses and one that can be unstoppable.”

Petzing comes to the Lions as the former offensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals. He has an incredibly talented group of athletes who are motivated to make up for last year’s failure and return to prominence in the NFC.

Williams and top receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown give Lions quarterback Jared Goff one of the most dangerous pass-receiving combinations in the NFL. St. Brown caught 117 passes for 1,401 yards and 11 TDs last year.

They also have a dynamic running back in Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for 1,223 yards and had 13 TDs on the ground and 5 more as a receiver.
