Kaizer Chiefs have finally completed the signing of Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC after weeks of speculation.

The highly rated 21-year-old joins Amakhosi with plenty of expectations and could make his debut in Sunday’s MTN8 clash against Golden Arrows.
Chiefs have already opened their 2026/27 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over newcomers Kruger United. Their attention now turns to the MTN8, where coach Fernando Da Cruz faces an early selection dilemma following Phili’s arrival.
Phili is naturally a left winger, meaning either Asanele Velebayi or Pule Mmodi could make way if the new signing is thrown straight into the starting XI.
Luke Baartman, who featured in the season opener, could switch to the right wing, while Flavio Da Silva is expected to lead the attack.
Phili likely to feature for Chiefs this weekend
In defence, Bradley Cross is tipped to return at left-back after missing the opening fixture.
However, Da Cruz may opt for a more cautious approach by introducing Phili from the bench. In that scenario, either Velebayi or Wandile Duba could retain their place in the starting lineup, allowing the former Stellenbosch star to make an impact as a substitute.
Regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench, all eyes will be on Phili as Chiefs look to book their place in the MTN8 semi-finals. His pace, direct running and creativity could pose a serious threat to the Golden Arrows defence.
Predicted Kaizer Chiefs starting XI: Brandon Petersen; Thabo Monyane, Thabo Moloisane, Miguel Inácio, Bradley Cross; Lebohang Maboe, Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko; Mfundo Vilakazi; Luke Baartman, Langelihle Phili, Flávio Silva.
