2028 5-star QB announces commitment date, predicted to land with A&M

One of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2028 recruiting class has announced his commitment date, as five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III will choose between LSU, Oregon, and Texas A&M on Saturday, August 15.

Ahead of Texas A&M's 2026 season, third-year coach Mike Elko is close to locking down the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, as four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen became the Aggies' 26th commit early last month. After five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis committed to Texas, Elko and his staff will look to flip the blue-chip back, along with Texas Tech commit and four-star RB SaRod Baker.

Donald Tabron III has already received two predictions to land with Texas A&M after visiting College Station multiple times since the Aggies offered him last October. New quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch and first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins have developed a strong relationship with the blue-chip signal-caller, hoping that, by this time next Saturday, he becomes the Aggies' second 2028 commit.

After receiving a prediction from Rivals insider Sam Speigelman, Tabron has more than a 90% chance to land with the Aggies. Tabron told Jaxson Callaway that he's been "building relationships here with the coaches and players that I really haven’t anywhere else," which is quite the selling point for any priority 2028 recruit.

Standing 6'4" and 190 pounds, Tabron has plenty of room to grow and fill out his frame, and he instantly became a target for Mike Elko after throwing for 1,656 yards and 17 touchdowns during his freshman season.
