Brampton man accused of stabbing; cops probe arson at abandoned Fort Erie school

A 32-year-old Brampton man has been arrested and charged after another man was stabbed “multiple” times earlier this month in Mississauga.
Peel Regional Police announced the arrest on Monday , saying it was linked to a stabbing call they responded to on Aug. 1 at about 1:40 a.m. at a commercial unit in the Dixie Rd.-Aimco Blvd. area of Mississauga.
Police said that officers found an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds when they arrived. The victim was rushed to a trauma centre in serious but stable condition and was expected to recover.
Gregory Darling was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with aggravated assault.

Abandoned high school torched in Fort Erie
Police are investigating an arson at a former high school in Fort Erie that firefighters were fighting to contain on Monday.
Niagara Regional Police said officers from 5 District responded to a building on Ridge Rd. N. in Fort Erie that was fully engulfed by flames on Monday at about 1:15 a.m. At last update, Fort Erie firefighters were still “actively working” to put out the fire.
No injuries were reported, according to CHCH News , which also reported that the building, formerly the Ridgeway Crystal Beach High School, is slated to be demolished and replaced with a housing development.
Police have since determined that the fire was caused by an act of arson, adding that officers from the 5 District criminal investigation bureau and officials with the Fort Erie Fire Department are investigating.
“Detectives are requesting residents and businesses in the area of Ridge Rd. N. review any video surveillance footage and contact police if anything suspicious is observed,” Niagara cops said in a news release.
