Letter: All Blazers fans should sign the petition

· Yahoo Sports

I am a big Blazers fan. I have been following the situation in Portland involving the Moda Center and the Blazers.

Visit tr-sport.bond for more information.

In case you did not know, the team was recently bought by a cheapskate owner who has fired many staff members, including broadcasters. Now, they are demanding the Moda Center be renovated or face the possibility of the team being relocated. Yes, it’s possible the team could move … Oregon’s first and loved professional sports team.

The team does not own the Moda Center. The city of Portland purchased it from the Paul Allen Estate in 2024. So that means the city of Portland is responsible. I know what you’re saying: “Why shouldn’t a billionaire be paying for an arena his team plays in?” Look at it this way: You own a house and rent it out, and it needs improvements. Would you expect your renter to pay for the work without being reimbursed? If the city doesn’t want to pay for the renovations, why did they buy the arena?

I have been wondering what we fans can do, feeling helpless. I know there are a lot of fans here on the coast, and I felt compelled to write in and share this petition for the city and team: ripcityforever.com.

I am encouraging all Blazers fans to sign the petition, as well. If you’re not a fan, and are against this, don’t bother. I want to see the Blazers in Portland for years to come.
