Cowboys undrafted receiver Camden Brown follows strong training camp with two preseason TDs

It's always an uphill battle for an undrafted rookie to make the team, but Cowboys wide receiver Camden Brown may be forcing his way onto the regular-season roster with his performance this summer.

Brown exceeded expectations for an undrafted rookie in Cowboys training camp, and in Saturday's preseason debut he put on a shot, catching all three of the passes thrown his way for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said after the game that Brown is doing everything a young player needs to do to make the team.
"The game's not too big for him. He does that every day in practice. We see it all the time," Schottenheimer said. “He’s been doing this the whole time. What I love about him is he does the little things, too. You watch him on special teams, in one-on-one drills, he realizes that's how you make this football team."
Brown began his college career at Auburn but wasn't getting much playing time through three seasons, so he transferred to Georgia Southern last year and played every well, catching 65 passes for 1,079 yards and leading the Sun Belt Conference with 14 touchdown catches. He said after his big game on Saturday night that he's always confident in his abilities.
"When the ball is in the air, it’s mine," Brown said. "That's always been a mindset, from Georgia Southern and Auburn, and just having that mentality, because I feel like just playing football in general is having the right mentality."
Schottenheimer noted that the Cowboys have a crowded wide receiver room. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Ryan Flournoy are the starters. Kavontae Turpin will make the roster for his work as a punt and kickoff returner. That doesn't leave many roster spots remaining for wide receivers, but if Brown keeps playing this way, it's going to be hard for the Cowboys not to choose him as one of the 53 players who remain at the end of the preseason.
