The campaign was organised as part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative being conducted under the aegis of the Government of India from August 9 to 17, 2026.

Manohar Lal, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, inaugurated the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ kiosk at the India Habitat Centre as the chief guest. Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, HUDCO; Prof. K. G. Suresh, Director, India Habitat Centre; Dr Vibhavari Dhawan, Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI); HUDCO officials; representatives of various organisations based at India Habitat Centre; and schoolchildren were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Manohar Lal called upon citizens to participate enthusiastically in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and proudly hoist the national flag at their homes.

Interacting with children, the minister said the Tricolour was not merely a national symbol but represented India's freedom earned through struggles and sacrifices, as well as the country's unity, identity, dignity and collective aspirations.

Addressing the younger generation, Lal urged them to understand the sacrifices made for India's independence and carry forward the country's national values. He said every citizen should adopt the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as a personal expression of patriotism.

The minister appreciated HUDCO's efforts to take the campaign to citizens through its offices and public outreach activities. He also encouraged the organisation to ensure greater public participation in the nationwide celebration of national unity, pride and collective responsibility.

As part of its commitment to contribute meaningfully to the national campaign, HUDCO will distribute more than 5,000 national flags through its kiosk at India Habitat Centre and its regional offices across the country.

The venue was decorated in the colours of the Tricolour, creating a festive and patriotic atmosphere. Selfie points based on the national flag theme were also set up, encouraging participants to capture and share their patriotic moments as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Adding to the enthusiasm, children from the Habitat Learning Centre presented a soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Union Minister subsequently distributed national flags among the children and encouraged them to participate in the campaign with pride and enthusiasm.

People from different age groups also participated actively in the programme and posed for photographs with the national flag. The event concluded as a celebration of unity, patriotism and national pride, with participants expressing their enthusiasm and pride in being part of the nationwide campaign.
