Third-year defender impressing the Browns new defensive coordinator

The Cleveland Browns' defense has been one of the NFL's best units for several years. Of course, Myles Garrett and Jim Schwartz were a great pairing, but in 2026 they have to move forward and see what they can achieve without them.

ESPN's Benjamin Solak wrapped up his training camp tour and added some final notes on his visits. As it relates to the Browns and their defense, he noted that the defense is looking for some difference makers. When Solak asked about who could make a difference, he shared who was being mentioned the most.

Solak writes, "First-year defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg has a tough task in Cleveland. He must retain the elite performance of Jim Schwartz's old unit. . .When I asked around about players who are standing out to the new defensive staff, I got Mike Hall Jr. a lot. He's an undersized, penetrating defensive tackle who was starting to shine under Schwartz."

Mike Hall Jr. is working his way back from injury at the moment, but he was looking the part before the injury, according to reports. If he can prove to be someone who can thrive working alongside the likes of Jared Verse and Mason Graham, he could become a permanent piece
