Long-time UFC veteran lightweight Drew Dober took to social media to call out Michael Chandler for a fight between two fan favorites.

Both Dober and Johnson are known for putting on insanely fun fights for the fans, so with both men looking for an opponent, this matchup makes a ton of sense.

Drew Dober Wants Michael Chandler

Taking to his social media, Dober put out a call to fight Chandler in a battle of UFC vets.

“For the fans,” Dober wrote on X.

Will the UFC Book This Fight?

With both Dober and Chandler needing an opponent, this fight seems like it has booked itself, so now it’s up to the UFC to go ahead and book it.

Dober is 37 years old, and he is coming off two straight wins: a brutal KO over Michael Johnson earlier this year at UFC 326, and a TKO win over Kyle Prepolec last year at UFC Vancouver. Those two losses came after Dober had lost three straight fights, which is a position that Chandler is in right now.

Chandler, who is 40, has actually lost four fights in a row, so he is truly at a crossroads in his UFC career right now. As fun as he is to watch fight, if he loses five straight fights, he could be at risk of being cut by the promotion, so he absolutely needs to win his next fight to guarantee his spot on the UFC roster going forward.

In Chandler’s last fight, he was brutally knocked out by Mauricio Ruffy at UFC Freedom 250 in a fight where many fans felt like he should retire following a brutal stoppage loss. But Chandler has vowed to continue fighting, and if he does so, then matching up against another brawler like Dober is a fight that is sensible for both men.

If Dober vs. Chandler gets booked, it would be the perfect main card opening bout for any of the remaining UFC numbered cards this year, as this matchup would provide guaranteed action for the fans. Now, let’s see if the UFC decides to book this fight or not.
