Gamescom 2026 kicks off on Tuesday with an exciting Opening Night Live event. The presentation is sure to include new trailers, world premiers, and lots of other exciting announcements.

Leading up to the event, one popular industry insider had suggested that Ori 3 may be revealed during ONL. NateTheHate discussed the possible reveal on the ResetEra forums last week and began spreading hope amongst Ori fans:

“A new Ori is what I was referring to. I do not have confirmation whether it will or won’t be at Gamescom, yet.”

The prediction quickly spread and it didn’t take long for the CEO of Moon Studios (developer of the first two Ori games) to chime in and offer their take on the prediction. Thomas Mahler took to social media with the following response over a series of posts:

“Once again there’s a bunch of people asking me about Ori 3 since there’s rumors floating about… As before, I haven’t heard anything about any of this. Internally, we’ve been discussing our interest in purchasing the IP back. I doubt any other studio could really do much with it, so it makes sense for this one to come home to Moon!”

Mahler also went on to expand on the idea of a return to the Ori IP in another post:

“I can confirm that the Ori 3 rumors are nonsense That said, I had Gareth over for dinner a while ago since he was recording the No Rest for the Wicked Soundtrack in Vienna (you folks will LOVE it!) and even he asked me if we’d be ready to do another one. “It’s time”, he said!”

Assuming Moon Studios would be involved in the next Ori adventure, this does seem to soundly debunk the rumor. That said, so fans who still think NateTheHate’s prediction is correct seem to think Xbox Game Studios may be moving forward with Ori with a different studio taking the lead.

At this point, fans are going to have to wait another day and tune in to the Gamescom opening stream to find out whether a reveal is coming or not.

Be sure to check back soon for lots more news and updates as the opening hours of Gamescom 2026 arrive.

At this point there has been no official confirmation of a new installment in the Ori franchise.
