If there's been one name to know at the 2026 Little League World Series so far, it's Kinley Rasmus.

Rasmus, playing for Phenix City, Alabama, didn't just become the 25th girl to play in the 79-year history of the LLWS, per AL.com. She's been a dominant force on the mound.

Coming from a family of baseball players, Rasmus is on the verge of making LLWS history, evoking memory of another star who stole the Williamsport stage: Mo'ne Davis.

Here's how Rasmus can pass Davis for most strikeouts by a girl in LLWS history.

Most strikeouts by a girl in LLWS history

After increasing her total to 14 for the tournament so far, Rasmus is currently in a tie for the most all-time strikeouts by a girl in LLWS history.

On Monday, Rasmus helped guide Phenix City to a win over West Chester, Pennsylvania, by punching out six batters on the mound in relief over 4.2 scoreless innings. That tied her with Davis for the most strikeouts by a girl in LLWS history.

In terms of single-game strikeouts, Rasmus and Davis also stand alone. When Rasmus struck out eight hitters in her team's LLWS debut last week, it tied Davis for the most strikeouts in a tournament game by a girl pitcher.

Per The Athletic, when Rasmus made her 2026 debut, she became the ninth female pitcher in LLWS history.

Mo'ne Davis 

Davis became a star at the 2014 Little League World Series, where she pitched for Philadelphia as the tournament's Mid-Atlantic Region representative. At the time, she was just the fourth American girl to play in the Little League World Series, the 18th overall. She became the first girl to pitch a winning game.

While throwing around 70 mph at age 13, Davis thrilled fans in Williamsport, leading her team to a 4-0 tournament-opening win by pitching a shutout with eight strikeouts.

That dominant on Aug. 14, 2014, start put Davis on a national stage, though she struggled in her semifinals start, allowing three runs in two innings as Pennsylvania lost to Nevada.

Davis went on to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, becoming one of the most popular sports stars of the year in 2014 and winning Best Breakthrough Athlete at the 2015 ESPYs.

Kinley Rasmus LLWS stats

Rasmus hasn't just been dominant on the mound — as a two-way player, when she's not pitching, she's still been an offensive threat for Phenix City. Rasmus became the first girl in LLWS history to notch an extra-base-hit when she hit an RBI double on Saturday, per the Montgomery Advertiser, and also became the fifth girl in LLWS history to have a multi-hit game. She added an RBI single on Monday.

Rasmus has also pitched in two games so far: one as a starter, then another in relief.

Where is Mo'ne Davis now?

In 2026, Davis made her debut for the Los Angeles Queens of the new Women's Professional Baseball League, playing as a centerfielder for the Queens.

“I've been asked so many times, am I going to pitch?’’ Davis recently said, per USA Today. “And I always tell them no, and they're always questioning why.

“Knowing how social media is, knowing how we're so competitive within ourselves, I don't want to put that pressure on myself to keep up with what I did when I was younger.’’

Additionally, in April, Davis joined the Indianapolis Clowns of the Banana Ball league, a team associated with the Savannah Bananas. The WPBL season began on Aug. 1, with her Clowns stint giving her some time to get acclimated to baseball again.

"Playing with them helped me so much for getting ready for this season (with the Women’s Pro Baseball League)," Davis said, per USA Today. "Just working on mechanics in the batter's box, working on tracking down fly balls and seeing how the pitchers are pitching."

Davis turned to softball after her time at the LLWS, played at Hampton University and spent some time in the broadcasting world. Now, she's back on the field.

Little League World Series strikeout records

Here's a look at the overall pitching strikeout records set at the LLWS as Rasmus looks to push for more history.

One game

The single-game strikeout record in a LLWS game is 22, per Little League. 

It was accomplished by Chin-Mu Hsu for Chinese Taipei on Aug. 28, 1971. Two other pitchers — Walker Kelly for Fort Worth, Texas, in 2002, and Gordon Andrews for Pensacola, Florida, in 1950 — have thrown 21 strikeouts in a LLWS game.

One tournament

The most strikeouts by one pitcher in a LLWS tournament is 44, per Little League.

Aaron Alvey set the mark for Louisville, Kentucky, in the 2002 tournament. That year, he also set the record for most innings pitched (22.0) in a single tournament.
