SASSA reminder: Fourth-day review payment dates for September 2026
· The South African

SASSA confirms Monday, 7 September, as the payment date for beneficiaries whose grants are under review during the September cycle. The agency clarifies that this date follows its standard three-day payment run, Older Persons Grants on 2 September, Disability Grants on 3 September, and Children’s Grants on 4 September.

SASSA stresses that 7 September is not a general payment day open to all beneficiaries. It reserves this date strictly for people whose grants are undergoing review and who therefore miss the normal three-day cycle. SASSA links these reviews to its mandate to ensure that grants reach only eligible recipients and that the system remains protected against fraud and error.
How beneficiaries can check their status
SASSA notes that it usually informs beneficiaries of a review via an SMS notification, requesting that they report for the process. The agency acknowledges that some beneficiaries miss this SMS because their contact details haven’t been updated. To address this, SASSA has rolled out a WhatsApp enquiry channel (082 601 0111), which allows beneficiaries to check their review, life certification, or verification status without visiting an office. SASSA asks beneficiaries to keep their phone numbers, marital status, and financial information up to date.
When attending a review, SASSA requires an ID document, proof of income, bank statements, and proof of residence. The agency warns that failing to respond to a review request may result in a grant being suspended or lapsed. SASSA closes by urging beneficiaries to trust only official channels and to stay alert to scammers requesting personal or banking details.
