The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have worn their "Bratoberfest" alternate jerseys since 2021, but rehabbing Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe may have sent the look into the mainstream.

Timber Rattlers announcer Chris Mehring posted a photo on social media of Uribe, who took the hill for the Timber Rattlers and worked a 1-2-3 third inning Aug. 28 in Appleton against the South Bend Cubs. It's already well over 100,000 views, and that's only on Mehring's original post, with accounts like Talkin' Baseball also noticing.

Uribe and JoJo Romero both took the hill for Class High A Wisconsin as part of their rehab work, retiring all six men they faced and striking out five of them, though the Rattlers lost a seven-run lead to the Cubs in a 10-7 setback.

The uniforms, made to look like traditional German lederhosen with suspenders and a plaid shirt, serve as part of the team's "Bratoberfest" celebration, honoring Wisconsin's German heritage. That included competitive eating celebrity Joey Chestnut at the ballpark Aug. 28 eating eight pounds of bratwurst, cheese curds and other Wisconsin fare.

Care to see Eric Bitonti continue his white-hot hitting with a double in the Brats unis? Or Romero, the recently acquired pitcher, strike out all three batters he faced in the second inning? Or actual German Yannic Walther, a 22-year-old catcher in the Brewers organization, double in two runs? The Brats unis look good in any situation.

Fans can also participate in an online auction through the weekend, ending at 6 p.m. Aug. 30, and get their hands on a game-worn jersey (from the Brats game and others). Proceeds go to the Timber Rattlers Give Back, the organization's 501(c)3 nonprofit. The Uribe jersey had a bid of $375 by Saturday morning.

Timber Rattlers Give Back has benefitted a number of causes, including raising more than $20,000 for tornado relief in the Fox Cities through the stadium 50/50 raffle in July.

Uribe, battling back from forearm soreness, already is eligible for activation from the injured list. It bears mentioning that the team will be able to add one pitcher and one position player to the expanded 28-man roster Sept. 1. By then, you could already be the owner of his Brats jersey.
