Texans drop final preseason game to Panthers 16-13

If you sat down to watch the third Texans’ preseason game and watched the entire thing, you get nothing but respect from me. Because this game was just difficult to watch. No starters played, as was expected because who wants to put starters at risk for a meaningless game, but there were things that we could learn from the game.

First of all, the offensive line cannot afford a single injury this season. Not a one. Because the depth behind the Texans line is upsetting. The backups, in the first drive of the game, surrendered two sacks of Davis Mills. That was the opening drive when our backups should have been up for the game getting completely pants’d by future grocery stockers.
While it might not be enough to get him a spot on the roster, Sabastian Harsh had the game of his life, racking up three tackles, a sack, and a pass deflection on the day. He might make the practice squad based on that performance.
Beyond that, it was a snooze for most of the game. Neither team scored a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter of the game. It was a bad, boring game that we had to get through to watch real football. And now we are clear for the regular season.
The Houston Texans’ season starts Sunday September 6 at noon CDT against the Buffalo Bills. We’ll see you then!
