What we learned from New York Giants' 23-6 win over New York Jets
· Yahoo Sports
The New York Giants finished out their 2026 preseason schedule with a decisive 23-6 victory over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Friday night.
The Giants moved to 2-1 this summer and will now gird themselves for roster cutdown day on Sunday. They won't play again until their home opener on Sept. 13 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Here are three things we learned from the dominant win over the Jets.
Running back room runs deep
The Giants signed veteran running back Najee Harris last week, which has led to questions surrounding workload distribution and snap counts. Harris isn't flashy, but he is the perfect early-down back who can soften up defenses. He gives the Giants a lot of options in the running game. They run five deep and should be fresh for four quarters this year. The Giants want to run the ball a lot this season, and we're seeing what that will look like.
Special teams is now a strength
The one thing the Giants were counting on when they hired John Harbaugh was his ability to build strong special teams. It didn't take him very long. He has a top punter in free agent Jordan Stout and now appears to have a rising star at kicker in Dominic Zvada. The return and coverage teams have been playing with more discipline under coordinator Chris Horton.
The defense looks unrecognizable
What happened to the sieve we saw last year? They've left town. This group -- regardless of who is out on the field -- looks in sync and is playing with purpose. Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson has this unit playing fast, loose, and physical. Considering he's done this without some of his main players seeing game action this preseason, Giant fans have to be excited about what they've seen so far.
