Kirk Cousins expected to be named starter for the Las Vegas Raiders
· Yahoo Sports
Kirk Cousins will not go gently into that good night, as the saying goes. Over the weekend, it was reported by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports that Cousins is expected to be named the starting quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, beating out the No. 1 in the 2026 NFL Draft, Fernando Mendoza, for the role.

This isn't the first time the 38-year old Cousins has been in a competition with a highly touted draft pick for a starting job, as he was up against Michael Penix Jr. for the Falcons' job in 2024 and 2025.
Cousins has had a remarkable career for a former fourth round draft pick, being named to four Pro Bowls and becoming one of the top earners in the NFL in recent memory. He also still holds the NFL record for the most game-winning drives in a single season with eight, although he is tied with Matthew Stafford for that accolade.
