Jordan Davis understands that his new contract brought more than financial security. It also raised the expectations surrounding his performance and leadership.

Entering his fifth NFL season, Davis is ready to accept both responsibilities.
Speaking with John Clark on the “Takeoff” podcast, Davis said players are compensated for what the organization believes they can become, not simply what they have already accomplished. His extension, therefore, represents another beginning rather than a reward that would allow him to relax. Davis is also becoming one of the recognizable veterans on a defense that has experienced significant turnover. As he determines what type of leader he wants to become, he continues to draw inspiration from Brandon Graham.
Graham’s influence extended beyond sacks, tackles, or the energy he provided on game days. Davis remembered how the longtime Eagles defensive end moved through the facility, welcomed people, and treated every teammate as though he belonged. Whether Graham had known someone for years or only a few days, his personality remained consistent.
That is the presence Davis hopes to recreate.
Leadership does not always require a speech. Davis can set an example through his conditioning, preparation, and production, while also helping younger players feel comfortable in the locker room. He described the Eagles’ facility as a place filled with people he genuinely appreciates, from teammates and coaches to staff members working throughout the building.
Graham helped establish that environment. Davis now recognizes that maintaining it is partly his responsibility.
