That's how many people view the New England Patriots season opening matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
The game will take place just six months after the Patriots lost to the Seahawks, 29-13, in Super Bowl 60. And for Maye especially, it's an opportunity to go out and rewrite history, in a sense, after he threw two interceptions while the offensive line allowed six sacks. He finished the game going 27-of-43 for 295 yards and two touchdowns.
But for Maye, he doesn't view it this way. Instead, it's a new season, and they have a new opportunity in front of them.
“We lost to them. The biggest game,” Maye said. “That’s why you play the game for. So there’s definitely, I wouldn’t say, extra. It’s our chance to start the season off strong, on a good foot, and knowing that the opponent we have and you get to say you get your revenge game, but I wouldn’t say revenge game.
"They won the big one, and we get to start the season off, and you can’t get that game back that we lost. So we’re onto something new.”
Maye just wants to start the season on a high note.
“We got a chance to come in here and make a big statement win,” Maye explained. “And I think that’s kind of what we’re rooting for. And a lot of confidence comes from winning and playing good football. So I think that’s what we’re working towards, and I know these guys are excited to get out there.”
