Cops probe another home-invasion shooting in York Region; Kitchener man facing 10 charges after pellet gun incident

York Regional Police are investigating a home invasion in Richmond Hill that left one person injured by gunfire early Monday morning.
It was the second such incident in the region in as many days. On Sunday morning, one person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting inside a home in the Leslie St.-William F. Bell Pwy. at about 4 a.m.
In Sunday’s incident, police said two to three masked suspects fled the area following the shooting.
On Monday, cops said they and other emergency services responded to a shooting inside a residence at Yonge St. and Weldrick Rd. W. at about 7 a.m. and found a victim inside the home suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
The lone victim was taken to hospital.
Cops said they believe that more than one suspect is involved and the suspects have fled the area. Police were canvassing the area for video and witnesses.
Kitchener man facing weapon charges
A 39-year-old Kitchener man faces 10 charges following an incident in Kitchener on Friday night.
Waterloo Regional Police said at about 11 p.m. two victims were in the area of Highland Rd. E. and were confronted by an unknown male pointing what appeared to be a firearm before the suspect discharged it multiple times, causing injuries.
A physical altercation took place and further physical injuries occurred as a result. The injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.
Officers responded immediately and arrested the suspect at the scene and determined that the firearm was a pellet gun.
An unnamed man is charged with seven weapons-related offences plus trespass by night, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.
Investigators determined this was an isolated incident and believe it was a targeted occurrence
Peel cops probe late-night stabbing
Peel Regional Police were investigating a late night stabbing in Brampton that followed reports of an altercation on Sunday night.
Cops were investigating the 10 p.m. incident at Yately St. and Clockwork Dr., with a large police presence.
RIDE checks in Niagara Region
Niagara Regional Police conducted Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot checks on Saturday in the area of Gorham and Garrison Rd. in Fort Erie, as well as at various locations throughout the Niagara Region.
Officers stopped more than 400 vehicles, with 36 drivers required to provide roadside breath samples.
Cops said a 49-year-old woman failed or refused to comply with a roadside breath demand and was arrested and her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
A 49-year-old man provided breath samples indicating a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. He was arrested and charged with operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days.
Five additional drivers provided breath samples within the “Alert” range and, as a result, had their driver’s licences suspended for seven days.
A 17-year-old novice driver with a G2 licence provided a breath sample indicating the presence of alcohol and as novice drivers are subject to a zero blood alcohol concentration requirement, the driver was charged and their licence was suspended.
Officers also issued 14 provincial offence notices for various offences.
Cops investigate two-vehicle crash in Niagara
Niagara Regional Police were investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened on Sunday at about 2 p.m. at the intersection of Helena St. and Dominion Rd. in Fort Erie.
The collision involved a white Nissan sport utility vehicle and a red Harley-Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle. Both occupants of the motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to an out-of-region hospital.
A passenger in the Nissan was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

E-scooter crash in Welland
Niagara Police were investigating a single-vehicle e-scooter crash on Sunday night in Welland.
The investigation determined that a 31-year-old man was operating an e-scooter southbound on Niagara St. near Birch St. at about 6:30 p.m. when he lost control and came to rest on the east sidewalk.The rider was taken to an out-of-region hospital for treatment with serious injuries and he’s since been upgraded to stable condition and his injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.
Investigators do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Info sought after serious collision in Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a serious collision in Cambridge on Sunday at about 8:15 p.m. involving an e-bike, a Nissan motor vehicle, and a RAM pickup truck at the intersection of Franklin Blvd. and Glamis Rd.
The driver of the e-bike, a 64-year-old man from Cambridge, was taken to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The drivers of the Nissan and the RAM pickup truck, both 19-year-old men from Cambridge, were not injured.
