Florida cops help guide deer out of home's bathroom: 'A buck-wild call for service'

Florida is typically known for odd encounters with alligators. But a deer recently made headlines after finding itself stuck in a home’s bathroom in the Sunshine State.
The deer’s unusual washroom break, which happened on Aug. 23, was caught on a police body-camera video, and shared by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook on Sept. 3.
As a resident points out the deer to two officers, a deputy says, “Oh … That’s a buck. That’s a nice buck,” as the clip shows a photo of the large animal peering out from the dark bathroom.
The deputy then strategizes with the resident, moving furniture to create a path for the deer to go out through the backyard door.
With the path created and the lights in the vicinity turned off, the two deputies whistle and clap to coax him out.
But the deer just stands there, staring at them.
“He’s just kind of stuck, he’s in froze mode,” the cop says.
Then he goes out to the yard to grab a pool brush, using it to give the buck a nudge, which finally sends him scampering out the backyard door.

Unfortunately, the frightened animal jumps into the yard’s unfenced pool.
The officers then guide the buck out, and he runs off, but clearly lost, he jumps back into the pool, before getting out on another side of the yard, and finally jumping over a short chain-link fence into a wooded area.
The deputy laughs off the ordeal, saying, “First time I’ve had a deer in a house in 23 years of my profession.”
In the Facebook post, titled “A buck-wild call for service,” St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office joked that it was a “true deer-in-the-headlights moment” with the buck fleeing before deputies could “issue a warning for trespassing.”
