Aaron Rodgers’ latest appearance on Cam Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast caught many people off guard.
The veteran quarterback opened up about his past relationship with Emmy Award-winning actress Shailene Woodley and recalled a private conversation they had following their engagement. That revelation has since become a talking point, and Skip Bayless was quick to weigh in on Rodgers’ decision to share such a personal detail.

Skip Bayless Takes a Dig at Aaron Rodgers for His Shailene Woodley Comments
The Steelers quarterback said he and Woodley got engaged in December 2020, but claimed their relationship soon began moving in another direction altogether.
According to Rodgers, Woodley accepted his proposal but later told him she wanted to sleep with someone else before they got married.
“I propose, and she says yes. … A couple days after that she tells me, ‘Before we get married I gotta go [expletive] this guy,’” Rodgers said on Heyward’s podcast.
The quarterback added that she might have felt pressured when she said yes, but argued that she could have simply rejected his proposal instead.
However, Bayless took issue with how Rodgers presented the story.
“I’ve said again and again… Aaron Rodgers is the all-time finger-pointing, blame-deflecting diva in the history of pro football,” Bayless said on the “Gridiron” podcast. “And now he’s at it again; the other day, blaming, pointing the finger at one of his exes, ex-girlfriend, Shailene Woodley. I’m calling BS on Aaron Rodgers. I hope she called BS.”

Bayless added that Rodgers made these comments to undermine Woodley’s recent achievement after she won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for playing Annie Clay in season two of Hulu’s “Paradise.”
“She had just won an Emmy, her first Emmy for her role in season two of ‘Paradise’… and she stole the show,” Bayless said.
“She took over season two, [and] she deserved the Emmy. She’s really gifted at what she does. And for him to take that shot at her, it almost felt to me like he was trying to undercut, undermine her Emmy that she won. And I would love to hear her side of that story because this is what Aaron Rodgers does.”

Rodgers offered more details about the breakup, claiming Woodley had already removed her engagement ring by March 2021.
The pair began dating in 2020, and Rodgers proposed that same year. Although they initially kept the engagement private, it became public in 2021. Their relationship eventually ended in 2022.
Woodley has since described going through a deeply traumatic period around the time of their breakup, saying she remained in a toxic situation and experienced severe depression and anxiety.
However, the four-time MVP rejected claims that he was responsible for her struggles.
“Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her. But the actuality is she told me that and took off the ring by March,” Rodgers said. “She literally told me, ‘I don’t wanna be with you.’”
While many feel these remarks may have crossed a line, Rodgers has never been shy about making polarizing comments.
