Washington Huskies Wide Receiver Cleared to Play Against Eastern Washington Eagles

The Washington Huskies football team will play the Eastern Washington Eagles in the former's final nonconference game of the regular season at 4:15 p.m. PT on Saturday at Husky Stadium.

When Washington does take the field against the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) squad, it will do so shorthanded.

The Huskies have suffered a series of injuries over the first two weeks of the regular season, most of which on the offensive side of the ball.

In Week 1 against the Washington State Cougars on Sept. 6, UW lost the top two running backs on the depth chart, second-year Quaid Carr and fourth-year Jayden Limar, for an extended period this season. In the same game, sixth-year wide receiver Christian Moss was knocked out for two-to-three months with with a lower-body injury.

It was also thought that the team could also be without another starting receiver, fourth-year Rashid Williams, for a time.

Williams suffered an injury early in the team's win in Week 2 against the Utah State Aggies on Sept. 12. He was ruled as week-to-week following the injury, and it looks like he'll be able to take the field against Eastern Washington.

According to a post on "X" from Christian Caple of On Montlake, Washington head coach Jedd Fisch said Williams had a "great week" of practice and is cleared to play against Eastern Washington.

Williams' condition is good news for the Huskies, which is still looking to find chemistry on offense after averaging 20 minutes against their pair of nonconference opponents in the first two week of the season.

It's also positive news for Williams personally, who is coming off an injury-plagued 2025 that saw him go down with two separate ailments that limited him to just two games.

The Brentwood, Calif., native stayed healthy throughout the offseason and developed a rapport with third-year quarterback Demond Williams Jr. and earned a starting role on the offense in the process.

The fourth-year wideout has brought in four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. His score came in Washington's 24-10 win against the Cougars. Despite it being his fourth year in the program, it was Williams first touchdown in front of his home crowd at Husky Stadium.

The fact that Williams is cleared to compete against the Eagles also likely means less snaps Saturday for true freshmen wide receivers Trez Davis and Jordan Clay. Both first-years were expected to get extended snaps if Moss and Williams were both unable to play.
