Among the many talented players, one who helped achieve this dream was native New Yorker, Jose Alvarado.
The 28-year-old was a move that the Knicks made during the 2025-26 season, and it proved to be extremely beneficial for them.
Now, Alvarado was not a starter or a star on the team, but his role was to be the energiser on the sidelines and, when called upon, give all he has for the team.
The guard played this role to perfection, and had some big moments even in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
Months after having won the championship, Alvarado continues to embrace all the love he gets from the fans in New York.
He was asked recently, how his life has changed since winning the championship, the player’s answer showed how much the city appreciated his effort.
“I can’t just walk around New York no more, so that’s changed but, it’s always good to walk around and have the love that’s always here,” said Alvarado.
He was born in Brooklyn, and went to Christ the King High School in Queens.
After the championship win, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani specifically shouted out Alvarado, as he was a New Yorker who played a role in the triumph.
The team decided to sign Alvarado to a three-year $14 million contract this offseason, which means that the guard will be part of the Knicks’ championship pursuit once again next season.
