Panthers LB Devin Lloyd comments on his historic Week 2 performance

Sunday's 34-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons was a statement by the Carolina Panthers, who dominated their division rivals in all three phases of the game.

Offensively, quarterback Bryce Young made use of all his weapons en route to 287 yards and three touchdowns. On special teams, Carolina shut down Atlanta's return game while seemingly finding an answer of their own in wide receiver Jalen Coker—who ripped off a 36-yard run on his first punt return.

The biggest star, however, was inside linebacker Devin Lloyd. Lloyd was all over the field and became the first player in NFL history to record a stat line of at least eight tackles, two interceptions, a touchdown and a sack.

Here's what Lloyd had to say after his ludicrous outing in Week 2 . . .

Lloyd, fresh off the first Pro Bowl selection of his career in 2025, joined the Panthers on a three-year, $42 million deal this past spring. And it may be safe to say, as head coach Dave Canales pretty much did after the victory, that the pact is already paying off.

"I don't know if I've seen a better performance out of a linebacker in 17 years of coaching in the NFL," Canales told reporters. "It's attributed to his study, being in the right spots.

"And then of course, I didn't realize his hands were that good. The slant that he picked off there at the end was incredible and the run after catch on the first one. One of the most dominant linebacker performances I've seen."

For the season, Lloyd has already put up 22 combined tackles—which ties him for the fourth-most in the NFL through two games.
