Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz overjoyed at making top 30 for Ballon d’Or, but harbors ambitions for more

The top 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or were recently released and four Bayern Munich players made it on to the list: Dayot Upamecano, Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane. Only the latter two are truly given any chance at all of winning the award proper, but even just making the list means a lot of Díaz.
The Colombian revealed this much in a recent interview with Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau, while also stating that he wants to try and get further and further up the list.

“It means a lot to me, a lot. I’ll always keep that in mind,” Díaz stated (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Not everyone has the opportunity to be among the 30 best players in the world. That’s a great achievement. I’ve had the honour of being included twice, and those were very, very, very good achievements for me and for my career. I’ll try to move a little further up the list each time. We’re all working, as a team, to improve and have a better season, and then win as much as possible with this club.”
It is nice to be recognized by one’s peers and given such a recognition. Using it as another way to remain motivated late into one’s career, then, is a good idea. But this award is a very fickle one, so Díaz will need to be ready for that.
