LBs Jaelan Phillips, Devin Lloyd among handful of Panthers held out of Wednesday's practice

This past weekend's epic performance from Carolina Panthers inside linebacker Devin Lloyd may have come at a small price.

Lloyd, who was just named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Atlanta on Sunday, was held out from Wednesday's practice due to a calf injury.

Head coach Dave Canales, when speaking with reporters, was asked if the issue was apparent after the 34-3 win over the Falcons in Week 2.

"Yeah, it just kinda started to flare up a little bit more once the game, once the adrenaline wore down," Canales replied. "He started to cool off and we knew something was there. So we're just gonna take him one day at a time and see if we can get him back out there."

In addition to Lloyd, the Panthers also listed outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips as a non-participant because of a back injury. Phillips, who signed a four-year, $120 million deal with Carolina this offseason, has amassed 2.0 sacks through two games.

They were joined off to the side by tight end Darren Waller (rest), inside linebacker Claudin Cherelus (shoulder) and safety Nick Scott (rib).
