Cameron Menzies picked up his second PDC Pro Tour title of the year on Tuesday, after defeating Gian Van Veen 8-4 in the final of Players Championship 29, as the midweek double header commenced in Den Bosch.
Menzies – the winner of PC23 back in July – went all the way once again as the quick-fired Scotsman reached the final by recording victories against Nick Kenny, Jim Long, Benjamin Pratnemer, Wessel Nijman, Jeffrey De Graaf and Kevin Doets, to set up a clash with Van Veen.

The final began with Menzies racing into a 5-0 lead with winning legs coming in 14,12,16,14 and 15 darts respectively before Van Veen ended the drought in Leg Six by picking up his first leg of the tie with a 17-dart hold of throw which was then followed by legs won in 14 and 16 darts to move within two of his Scottish opponent. The tie then saw three straight holds of throw, ending with Menzies breaking Van Veen’s throw in Leg 12 which saw the Scot seal an 8-4 victory with an 18 darter to pick up a second title of the year and a fourth Pro Tour victory of his career as well as the £15,000 top prize.
Van Veen’s run to the decider saw the Dutch Number One record victories on the day against Tommy Morris, Daniel Klose, Darius Labanauskas, Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey and William O’Connor, before being denied by Menzies.
Elsewhere, there were Quarter Final runs for three-time Pro Tour Event Winner Jermaine Wattimena and Sweden’s Oskar Lukasiak, whilst the likes of three-time World Champion Michael Van Gerwen and second seed Luke Woodhouse were amongst the high profile first round casualties. The day also saw two nine-darters hit by Cristo Reyes and Max Hopp in victories against Ian White and Tom Bissell respectively.
The PDC Pro Tour double header concludes on Wednesday with Players Championship 30 taking place in Den Bosch, with the 128 players returning to compete for a further £150,000 in prize money, with play beginning at 13:00 CEST (12:00 BST). Play will be broadcasted across four streaming boards on PDC.TV and various bookmaker websites worldwide, with all live scores and results on tv.dartconnect.com.
