UConn and UMass reschedule football game for 2029

The UConn vs. UMass football game originally scheduled for 2025 has been rescheduled for 2029, according to FBSchedules.
The two schools had scheduled games for every year between 2022 and 2027; last year’s meeting was moved to accommodate UMass’ move to the MAC.

Previously a fellow FBS Independent, along with Army and (technically) Notre Dame, the Minutemen were a good scheduling partner as the Husky program moved out of the AAC. Now that they’re in a conference, they have eight games locked into their annual slate. The MAC is moving to nine conference games in 2028.
The rivalry still makes sense to keep up as it goes back to the schools’ earliest days. Both were in FCS (then called Division 1-AA) for a long time as Yankee Conference rivals and moved up to FBS just a few years apart.
The all-time series between UConn and UMass is at an even 38-38, with two ties. The Huskies won the last three meetings (2022-2024), all under Jim Mora, and went 1-2 against the Minutemen during Randy Edsall’s second tenure. They’ve met seven times as FBS programs, with the Huskies winning five.
The rivalry will meet this season on a Friday night, kicking off at the Rent on October 23rd.
