A Whitby man who is active on social media — regularly promoting Canada First rallies — now stands accused of inciting violence against Muslims.
Durham Regional Police say Hate Crime Unit officers concluded an investigation into the accused and took him into custody on Wednesday after he allegedly “promoted anti-Muslim hatred online.”
“The suspect willfully incited violence and harm against the Muslim community on social media platforms under the name Sean Strife,” police alleged in a statement released Wednesday.
Sean Farro, 57, is charged with offence motivated by hatred – uttering threats; and inciting hatred in a public place.
He was held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing.
Meme promoted hunting of Muslims
While police have not revealed details of any posts that led to the charges, there are numerous references online to a meme that was allegedly shared and later deleted by Sean Strife (aka Sean Farro) on various social media platforms.
The meme in question includes Canadian and American flags in the top left and right corners with the words “North American Zone” in between the flags.
Below that are the words “Hunting permit for all species, types of: Muslim.”
The meme further states “No Bagging Limit” and “No Tagging Required.”
And when he shared the meme, Sean Strife commented: “I suggest everyone register now.”

Ismail Aderonmu, who posts on X using the handle @LegalishCA, is among the social media users who took offence to the meme, calling it “sick and twisted.”
“A literal ‘hunting permit’ for Muslims with ‘no bagging limit’ and ‘no tagging required,’ @LegalishCA commented. “An entire religious community depicted as prey. Apparently deleted now. Screenshots exist. This should be taken seriously.”

Sean Strife routinely posts videos on Facebook, Tik Tok and X, where he uses the handle @SeanStrife00 and describes himself as: “Lead singer of Social Strife! The Harbinger of Truth & Canadian patriot!”
He is typically heard in his videos defending Canada while being critical of Muslims and Sharia law, often making statements such as, “If you see a Canadian flag and it offends you, you don’t deserve to be here or the Canadian experience!”

Accused seemingly unapologetic
In a message posted Tuesday on X, he seems quite unapologetic regarding the meme he allegedly reshared on social media.
“So the Muslims and the leftist mob want me to apologize for a meme that was shared 100,000 times at least before I re-shared it! I will not now nor will I ever bow to the mob! You put my address public and you’re threatening to roll up on me, that only makes me wanna fight harder,” @SeanStrife00 posted.
Police reminded citizens that any acts that “target, intimidate, threaten or instill fear in any individual or group are unacceptable and will be thoroughly investigated.”
