Braves celebrate Hispanic and Latino culture with 10th annual Los Bravos Night

ATLANTA (WJBF) — The Atlanta Braves are celebrating Hispanic and Latino culture at Truist Park as the team hosts its 10th annual Los Bravos Night.
The Braves are facing the Cincinnati Reds on the field, while fans are celebrating the culture and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities that are part of Braves Country.

For Blanca Morrugarez of Rome, Georgia, the night is an opportunity to share her family's heritage with her children.
“I am here with my family to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. It's very important, especially to teach my children my culture and where we come from. I am from El Salvador and my husband is from Mexico. It is important to see our culture out here.”
Throughout Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta, fans can take part in cultural activities, including live salsa music, Latin dance performances, face painting and other programming.
One of the additions this year is an ofrenda, a Mexican tradition associated with Día de los Muertos that honors loved ones who have died.
Fans contributed photographs, candles, flowers, fruit and other personal items to the display.
Erin McCormick, senior director of social impact for the Atlanta Braves, said the team received more than 100 submissions from nine states.
“The ofrenda is mainly in the Mexican culture, but it's a chance to honor, usually around Día de los Muertos, to honor loved ones who have passed on, to kind of welcome them and celebrate their memory,” McCormick said.
She said the Braves wanted the installation to give fans another way to share their traditions and memories at the ballpark.
The Braves launched their Los Bravos initiative in 2017, expanding the organization's efforts to connect with Hispanic and Latino fans through Spanish-language content, community programming and celebrations of Latino culture.
The initiative also highlights the contributions of Latino players, coaches and members of the Braves organization.
“It is such a special night, having a Friday night. It is a chance for all of our communities to come together,” McCormick said. “We're big champions of building community through baseball.”
For Morrugarez and her family, the focus is simple: celebrating their culture while enjoying a night at the ballpark.
“We're very excited. Obviously, we're going for Los Bravos, the Braves today,” she said. “This is not our first time coming to the Braves game, but it is our first time coming to Los Bravos Night. We just like to enjoy the baseball.”
Los Bravos Night is part of the Braves' broader Hispanic Heritage Month programming and reflects the growing presence of Hispanic and Latino communities across Georgia.
The Braves also partner with the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, including an annual event recognizing 50 influential Latinos in Georgia.
Organizers say Los Bravos Night is designed to bring fans together through baseball while recognizing the diversity of the communities that make up Braves Country.
