PWHL Detroit sets home opener against New York Sirens

DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) — Detroit’s newest hockey team has set a date for its first-ever home opener. PWHL Detroit will play its inaugural home game on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. against the New York Sirens at Little Caesars Arena, the league announced Monday.

PWHL Detroit, one of four new expansion teams to join the league for the 2026-27 season, will make its official debut against PWHL Las Vegas on Dec. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as part of the league’s opening weekend featuring all 12 teams.
The still-unnamed PWHL Detroit will be led on the ice by five-time U.S. Olympian Hilary Knight, who recently signed a two-year extension through the 2028-29 season, along with Japanese Olympian Akane Shiga and the team’s first-ever draft pick Swiss goaltender Andrea Brändli.
The complete PWHL regular season schedule is set to be announced Friday.
Tickets go on sale Monday at 11 a.m. on Ticketmaster. Season tickets are also available for purchase.
