Patrick Mahomes downplays Chop Robinson hit injury fears
The scare happened late in the third quarter with the Chiefs backed up on their own 5-yard line, holding a tight 14-10 lead. Pat dropped back into the end zone on third-and-9, and as he threw the ball, Dolphins pass rusher Chop Robinson drove him into the turf, landing right on top of Mahomes with his full body weight.

The 31-year-old addressed the hit Tuesday, easing fans’ fears about a potential injury. “I’m doing great, you know, it was like a natural chiropractor, so I felt better after the game, so I’m doing fine,” Mahomes said, joking that Robinson hit him really hard.

He completed 20 of 24 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against Miami. Through three games, he has seven touchdown passes and two interceptions. The vicious hit drew extra attention because Pat tore the ACL in his left knee in a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and had surgery on both his ACL and LCL.
Robinson, however, defended his hit, saying he just did what he was coached to do, though he did admit, “I guess I could have put my hands out earlier.”

NFL legends Terrell Owens and Richard Sherman slammed the soft call on social media, but analyst Gene Steratore backed up the refs. He explained that Robinson’s momentum naturally forced his body weight onto the signal-caller, which violates the NFL rule protecting QBs from full-body hits.
Kansas City is heading into Week 4 to face the 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday. The Chiefs enter the game as 4.5-point road favorites. It promises to be an interesting faceoff with both teams undefeated.
