MTG Corn Maze Secret Lair Superdrop Brings Jim Henson's Labyrinth, KPop Demon Hunters, and Marvel Zombies to Magic

Wizards of the Coast trots out a new MTG Secret Lair on a monthly basis at this point, and while crossovers aren't anything new for the franchise, this new 'super drop' brings Jim Henson's Labyrinth and KPop Demon Hunters to the card game for the first time.

Wizards of the Coast has just announced the Corn Maze Superdrop, clearly in time for Halloween, but instead of going with a darker horror twist like it did with the Junji Ito drop, all of these collections are relatively lighthearted. Of course, for most people, the biggest draw is going to be the KPop Demon Hunters and Labyrinth drops – the latter of which has three collections – along with a Marvel: Zombies collection.
The three Labyrinth drops are the highlight of the Corn Maze Superdrop, though. The Secret Lair x Jim Henson's Labyrinth Fear Me, Love Me drop is entirely focused on Goblin kindred cards, and is headlined by Muxus, Goblin Grandee, a Goblin Staple, posing as Jareth, Goblin King with a beautiful illustration of David Bowie. Of course, there's also a copy of Claim the Firstborn as The Kidnapping of Toby. For some reason, though, this drop also has a copy of Trinisphere, which doesn't really fit into any conceivable goblin deck, but at least it has some cool art of Bowie holding a bunch of orbs.
Of course it wouldn't be a Secret Lair Superdrop without some nigh-unreadable cards, and that's where the Secret Lair x Jim Henson's Labyrinth: Through the Labyrinth comes in. The art on these cards are all gorgeous, though I could totally see some of them being hard to parse from across the table. Still, Wizards decided to print Leveler in this drop, which you can combine with The Beamtown Bullies or Thassa's Oracle to make your pod wish they were dropped in the Labyrinth.
There's also a Kpop Demon Hunters drop, which has some incredible cards with combo potential. This one comes with a copy of Freed From The Real and Underworld Breach, both of which will be notorious in decks that are built around them. There's a reason Breach has been banned in multiple formats, after all.
And Wizards is still trying to work more Marvel content into Magic, this time with a Marvel Zombies drop that's focused on Zombie kindred cards. But, as cool as it would be to have a commander deck helmed by Zombie Thor or Zombie Scarlet witch, none of the cards in this drop are really worth the high price you'd be paying for them, unless you really love Marvel Zombies.
Some of the other drops are seriously cool, too. The Manufactured Grounds by See Machine drop brings some incredible art to the original artifact land cycle from Mirrodin. That drop probably doesn't make a lot of sense from a purely financial perspective, but damn, does it look cool. Then there's the Peace, Love and Treefolk drop, which gives Timber Protector its first meaningful reprint besides the Lord of the Rings commander decks.
I'm probably going to pick up all of the Labyrinth drops, and if you want to grab one (or all) of them too, the Corn Maze Superdrop will be available starting at 9am PT / 12pm ET on October 12. Wizards of the Coast will even toss in a Labyrinth-flavored copy of Maze of Ith on any order over $199.
