The 30-year-old star safety broke his pinky finger during the Week 2 loss to the Raiders. Last week, the veteran practiced with the cast on and played with it on.

James was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury.

The former All-Pro safety has gotten off to a slow start to the season. Through the first three games, James has recorded 21 total tackles and one pass defended.

James and the Chargers' defense are coming off their best performance of the season. Although it came in a loss, Chris O'Leary's unit may have found something and will look to build that momentum in their upcoming Week 4 contest against the Seahawks.
