The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up Week 3 with a 2-1 record and the No. 1 spot in the AFC North. That's great, but the competition tends to get steep in the NFL, of course, and this team needs to find a way to get further than it did when the postseason rolls around.
But, the good news is that the Steelers may have found their answer. Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today points out that there's a secret player on this team, or not so secret, who could really help them stay competitive in this division.
This player could be the Steelers' missing piece
In the piece, Middlehurst-Schwartz gives the Steelers a B grade for their work in Games 1 through 3. Sure, they're volatile, he says, asking, "What version of the Steelers should we expect to see for the rest of the season?" But, there's promise.
"From the changes along the formerly shaky offensive front to the newfound creativity coursing through Mike McCarthy's play-calling, Pittsburgh showed a willingness to adjust on the fly that should serve it well down the stretch," he notes in the piece.
He adds, "While the results might not be fully sustainable over the course of an entire season, enhanced control at the line of scrimmage and a featured role for Jaylen Warren could provide the steadying presence required to keep the Steelers competitive in the AFC North."
So, Warren could be the missing piece of the puzzle that the Steelers have, one who could push them over the edge, along with, of course, quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
