FIA delivers new Bahrain GP weather update, and it’s not good news

· Yahoo Sports

The FIA has provided an update on the weather conditions expected over the coming minutes, but for now there is little positive news regarding the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Shortly before the scheduled start, the FIA officially confirmed that the Bahrain Grand Prix would be delayed due to the heavy rain that had swept across the Sepang International Circuit. The downpour intensified in the build-up to the race, leaving significant amounts of water on parts of the track and making conditions unsuitable for the Grand Prix to begin as planned.

Race Control has confirmed that the rain has remained steady over the past 10 minutes, with no improvement expected in the immediate future. The Medical Car was subsequently sent out to assess the circuit and determine whether conditions were suitable for the race to begin.

After completing several laps at Sepang, the Medical Car reported significant amounts of standing water around the track. As a result, conditions are currently considered unsuitable for the Bahrain Grand Prix to get underway.
