ATLANTA — Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray has been ruled out for Wednesday’s Game 2 of the WNBA semifinals against the New York Liberty with a hand injury.

Dream coach Karl Smesko updated reporters after Tuesday’s practice and said Gray will be considered day to day after Wednesday’s game.

Gray hurt her left (shooting) hand about halfway through the first quarter of Atlanta’s Game 1 victory Sunday when she appeared to injure her finger while creating a deflection. She clutched her hand while heading to the locker room, where she remained for the rest of the first quarter. Gray returned early in the second quarter with tape binding her ring and pinky fingers.

After one possession, she removed the black tape before appearing to injure the same finger again while attempting a steal off a Sabrina Ionescu cross-court pass.

Gray was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game, finishing with 7 points in 11 minutes. Smesko said postgame he was hopeful she’d be available for Game 2.

Gray led the Dream in scoring during the regular season, averaging 19 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists through 44 games. She averaged 22 points and 2.5 steals in the Dream’s two-game sweep of the Washington Mystics in the first round, helping secure Atlanta’s first semifinals appearance since 2018.

On Sunday, guard Jordin Canada and forward DeWanna Bonner led the charge in Gray’s absence, combining for 48 points in the Dream’s 92-82 victory.
