THURSDAY’S GAMES (OCT. 8)
EMERALD RIDGE 20, CURTIS 15
It came down to an Emerald Ridge goal-line stand at the end of the game. Miguel Martinez switched from a blitz, dropped into coverage and came away with the game-sealing interception for the Jags.
Tre Robinson rushed 10 times for 130 yards and a touchdown for Emerald Ridge and had a 60-yard receiving touchdown. Martinez, in addition to coming up with the late clutch interception, also had a 2-yard rushing touchdown.
Defensively, Jerin Biembongo had two sacks. Amosa Masaniai and Tim Woodard had interceptions.
Emerald Ridge moves to 5-1 with the win and has been on the area’s most improved teams this season.
“Proud of how our guys battled,” Emerald Ridge coach Torey Donovan said. “Even when there were things that did not go our way, we didn’t give up on both sides of the ball. We still have not put together a complete game like we are capable of. It’s coming.”

“Our team played a great game by doing their job and trusting each other,” Orting coach Cody Baskett said. “We made big plays out of the gate and limited our mistakes. Great win over a well coached ball team.”
