Malema reveals son ignored his advice and brought a white partner for his matric dance

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has revealed that he told his eldest son, Ratanang, not to take a white partner to his matric dance, but the youngster did not heed his advice.

Malema made the revelation while speaking at the party’s Jazz Hour event in Johannesburg, where he addressed his views on white people and racial inequality in South Africa.

The EFF president insisted that he did not hate white people but opposed white dominance, arguing that relationships between young South Africans across racial lines demonstrated how intertwined their lives had become.

“I told him; ‘when you go to the matric dance, do not bring a white lady, please’. He did exactly what I told him not to do,” Malema said last week.

He added that if the country wanted to reject white people, it would have to start with the white partner who attended the matric dance with his son.

“Ratanang is going to fight back because these people are friends with our children. They are our neighbours, our partners. We are now doing almost everything together. You cannot imagine South Africa without white people,” he said.

In 2024, Malema offered a glimpse of Ratanang’s matric dance celebrations on social media, sharing details of the lavish occasion.

During the same speech, the EFF leader reiterated that his party did not hate white people, but believed that greater freedom for black South Africans required confronting the country’s enduring economic inequalities.

“We do not hate white people; we love them, so much,” he told the audience.

Malema argued that white South Africans needed to allow black South Africans to enjoy greater freedom and equality, pointing to the contrasting living conditions in Sandton and neighbouring Alexandra.

“So much so that we are saying, for their own freedom, they must allow us to be free so they can demolish their walls in Sandton. But as long as there is still Alexandra, there will be high walls in Sandton,” he said.
