“Well, we got interrupted at the Newport Speedway this week. And the police officer had informed us that someone had cut their ankle bracelet off to come watch me race. On the premises. And they were actively searching for them.”

Co-hosts Mamba Smith and Kaitlyn Vincie had been trading stories about getting pulled over by police. Harvick’s story topped them both. The co-hosts joked that Harvick should send the fan a care package. Harvick had a message of his own.

“I’m all-in for you, buddy, but you should probably wait until your ankle bracelet is off. You probably shouldn’t cut it off.”

The CARS Tour made its first visit to Newport Speedway on Friday, Oct. 2. Harvick drove the No. 29 in the 100-lap Pro Late Model race.

Harvick laughed when asked about his race.

“I participated. I drove mine into the wall about lap 40. Purely a lapse in a driver judgment.”

The contact did not end his night. He finished seventh and completed all 100 laps. Mason Walters won the race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. also raced at Newport in the Late Model Stock race. He finished ninth. Harvick’s son, Keelan Harvick, finished fourth, and Caden Kvapil won.

Harvick also made news off the track this week. On Oct. 9, the Spears CARS Tour West announced it will join the ASA and CRA under one sanctioning body.

Harvick and Tim Huddleston co-own the CARS Tour West. They will now share ownership with Marty Melo of MDM Promotions, which runs the ASA and CRA.

The combined group will run seven series under the CARS Tour name starting Jan. 1, 2027. Harvick and Huddleston will also become co-owners of Track TV, which will stream the races.

Harvick also co-owns the CARS Tour on the East Coast with Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, Justin Marks and Speedway Motorsports. MotorBiscuit has more on Harvick and Earnhardt Jr.’s plans for 2027.

Harvick retired from full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing after the 2023 season. He now works as a broadcaster and still races late models around the country, keeping him active in grassroots motorsports.
