Texas football appeared to have its first interception of the afternoon late in the third quarter Saturday as it faced Oklahoma in the 122nd edition of the Red River Rivalry. But a common headache wiped a Sooners turnover off the board on a failed trick play.

The Sooners attempted a wide-receiver pass from Austin native and fifth-year senior Isaiah Sategna III on first down from the Texas 36-yard line. Sategna's pass was intercepted senior defensive back Bo Mascoe, but the pick was nullified by a roughing-the-passer penalty on senior linebacker Rasheem Biles.

Sategna then drew a pass interference on a pass from Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer on a third-and-goal from the Texas 9-yard line, giving the Sooners' drive life once again. Oklahoma then found the end zone one play later on a 2-yard touchdown run, tying the contest at 17-17 early in the fourth quarter.

Biles' roughing the passer was Texas' second frustrating personal foul in as many games. Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons recorded a program-record 5 1/2 sacks in the Longhorns' 20-17 win over Tennessee on Sept. 26. He also recorded one of the more baffling unsportsmanlike penalties in program history, when he celebrated a sack in the second quarter by simulating using the restroom. Tennessee then drove deep into Texas territory after Simmons' flag, but unlike on Saturday, Texas did not allow points on the drive after stopping a fourth-down attempt.

Sategna took a tough hit from Biles on Saturday. He also earned perhaps a dose of familial revenge. Sategna's father is Mario Sategna, the former Texas track coach who was fired in 2018 after five years with the program.
