Detroit Lions vs. Arizona Cardinals post-game reaction: Is Detroit fixed?
· Yahoo Sports
The Detroit Lions are heading into the bye week after an emphatic win over the Arizona Cardinals. It was a convincing win, not just because they ended up winning by 24 points, but because literally every phase of the game shined on Sunday. The offense scored on seven straight drives. The defense held Arizona scoreless on seven straight drives—including five consecutive three-and-outs. The return and coverage teams were outstanding on special teams.
So on this week’s PODcast, we celebrated a little. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a complete game from the Lions, and it’s nice to bask in that glory for a minute. It’s much better than the alternative of heading into the bye week 2-3, craving for some heads on a platter.

Then we dig into the nitty gritty of the game. What changes did the Lions make to find some success on defense? How did the Lions’ cornerbacks—specifically Roger McCreary and D.J. Reed—suddenly look like top-tier coverage defenders? And what successes were offensive coordinator Drew Petzing able to find?
We also look at the bigger picture of this team. While this was a good game, how will they look when they face a tougher Packers offense next game? What will Detroit do with the secondary when Brian Branch returns? And what the heck’s the deal with these slow starts on offense?
We tackle it all on this week’s PODcast, which you can listen to on any podcasting platform you enjoy by searching “Pride of Detroit.” We’ve also made it easy for you by embedding this week’s episode below:
