ATHENS, Ga. — It is well-documented by now what goes into Byrum Brown at his best.

He put it on full display the past three years at South Florida, quarterbacking a high-tempo offense built for explosives. He threw for 3,000 yards last season, but he also logged 1,000 yards on the ground, which certainly made his move to Auburn football an enticing one on the Plains.

It showed in flashes the first five games; Brown's bruiser ability when he gets into open space, seemingly at his best when he seeks contact. He gave No. 1 Georgia a full dose of that Saturday, Oct. 17, as the Tigers pulled off a 27-24 upset at Sanford Stadium.

Brown rushed for a game-high 115 yards against one of the best defenses in both the SEC and at the FBS level, posting 265 total yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers. He even brushed off a rather gnarly hit to the head early, coming back into a game after he looked certain for a sidelining.

"Was good, shook back, and (I) just got to go out there and fight with my brothers," Brown said. "They go through hard stuff all the time. I can do it, too."

For his six games in an Auburn uniform, Brown set season-highs both in rushing yards, as well as total carries, at Georgia. His 26 touches on the ground were actually five more than his previous season-high, with 21 carries against Baylor.

"They did a good job of twisting and stunting and getting back there," Brown said of Georgia's defense. "But, you know, I'm pretty hard to bring down."
