Ole Miss beat Missouri for just the second time ever on Saturday with an absolutely dominant showing. There was some excitement and anticipation about the improvements on the defensive side of the ball after the Vanderbilt game. But Vandy is back in the cellar and not a true measuring stick.

Mizzou was one of the most balanced offenses in the country until the Rebel defense made them one-dimensional. Not only did they take away their elite run game, they doubled Cayden Lee all night, taking away Austin Simmon’s safety blanket.

A successful homecoming for all but three people in that stadium, so now it’s time to jump into the four best plays, top two players and five interesting stats of the game.

4 Plays of the Game

Caleb Cunningham is the real deal. He’s AJ Brown, Laquon Treadwell good. From the initial angle, it looks like a perfect dime by Trinidad Chambliss and all CC had to do was stick his hands out there. There’s an angle up that sideline that shows how impressive the catch actually was.

Sometimes Chambliss has the confidence to make throws that he has no business making. This was an absolute dot to Horatio Fields. The catch was just as impressive due to the tight window and getting hit. Trinidad put that ball in the ONLY location it could go for the completion to happen.

Pete Golding talked about this play, showing six at the line and seven in the box. Freshman Landon Barnes dropped off the line and into coverage on the bunch side and got an interception off Austin Simmons. This was Simmons’ first interception of the season that wasn’t tipped off a receiver’s hands. Cool moment for a highly touted freshman.

It really sucks Kewan has struggled with health this year. But my god, when this dude is on the field, its like Jordan & Pippen out there. This was on third down on a drive at the end of the first quarter, that eventually led to the Horatio Fields score to go up 14-3. Even better, he hurdled former Reb, Chris Graves Jr.

2 Players of the Game

I am going to cheat so hard on this section and I will not apologize.

Kewan Lacy/Makhi Frazier

Lacy had 16 carries for 122 yards (but lost a fumble). Frazier added 101 yards on 15 carries. This is the first time two Rebels have rushed for over 100 yards in the same game since the 2024 Egg Bowl when Ulysses Bentley and Henry Parrish did it. While they did not score, they helped move the ball while Trinidad Chambliss wasn’t at the top of his game.

The Defense

Unfair to pick any one person. They shut down the second leading rusher in the country, holding Jamal Roberts to 39 yards on 2o carries. Cayden Lee was also bottled up all game. Add in two sacks, five tackles for a loss and six pass deflections. Luke Ferelli, Will Echoles, Blake Purchase, Sharif Denson and the list goes on for an elite showing.

5 Interesting Stats

1 – Caleb Cunningham scored his first touchdown of his career while Lacy had his first 100 yard game of the season. Only five schools have a 100% redzone scoring rate. Ole Miss ranks first among those five in touchdown ratio. Landon Barnes also had his first interception of his career.

3 – Ole Miss went over 125 yards rushing for the third straight game. This was only the second time in the last decade the Rebels held an SEC opponent to 3 points. Lacy remains 3 rushing touchdowns away from second all time in school history.

8 – Chambliss moved into 8th in all-time passing yards at Ole Miss. He has a real shot at knocking off Chad Kelly and finish 5th when his career is over.

15 – Ole Miss now owns the longest Power 4 home winning streak at 15. The remaining home games include Auburn, Georgia, Wofford and Mississippi State.

19 – Chambliss has tied Matt Corral for the second longest touchdown pass streak at 19. If he throws a touchdown the next four weeks, he will own the longest streak in school history.
