World Series ticket prices hit record high for Game 1 in Milwaukee

· Yahoo Sports

The 2026 World Series is set, and there’s already a narrative that interest in the event will be down thanks to the two competing teams. The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays are not traditionally thought of as popular or big-market MLB teams, leading some to wonder if viewership will be down during the games.

But if World Series ticket prices are any indication, that won’t be the case. Ticket prices have skyrocketed for Game 1 of the World Series in Milwaukee, smashing the previous record, per GameTime.

Early Tuesday, the get-in price for the contest was a whopping $2,932, per GameTime. That crushes the previous Game 1 record, which was $1,125. That figure was set during the 2016 World Series, when the Chicago Cubs took on the Cleveland Guardians. Game 1 of that series took place in Cleveland.

Last year’s World Series — which saw the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays square off — saw Game 1 tickets go for $1,117, nearly a record. Game 1 was held in Toronto last season.

Prices for the 2026 World Series have declined somewhat throughout the day Tuesday, though still sit well above the record. Ticket prices for Game 2 in Milwaukee remain similarly high.

Tickets for games in St. Petersburg — where the Rays’ stadium is located — are far cheaper. As of Tuesday, the get-in price for Game 3 of the World Series is $690. That figure jumps to $770 for Game 4 and $715 for Game 5.

Those prices are actually a bargain compared to games in Milwaukee. They are also a bargain if you want to compare that price across sports. The New York Knicks home opener Tuesday night has a get-in price of over $2,000. Basketball fans are willing to pay more to see the Knicks’ first regular-season game than baseball fans are willing to pay to see Game 3 of the World Series.

There are, of course, some caveats to that. The Knicks are coming off the team’s first championship in 53 years. Because of that, fan interest is extremely high for Game 1 of the regular season, where the Knicks will celebrate that title one more time and raise their championship banner. Market size and team popularity play a role as well. The Knicks are incredibly popular and play in New York. Demand is always going to be high for their games.

While that explains the disparity between Knicks and Rays tickets, it doesn’t explain why interest in Milwaukee is incredibly high. Get-in prices for Game 6 and Game 7 of the World Series — both of which will take place in Milwaukee if the series goes that long — are easily over $2,000. That figure will only get higher if the Brewers have a chance to clinch a championship at home.

Despite their small market size — Milwaukee ranks last in MLB in that area — the Brewers typically see strong attendance throughout the regular season. During the team’s current run of success, the Brewers have ranked within the top half of yearly attendance in the regular season.

Now that the team finally has another crack at its first World Series title, demand for tickets has skyrocketed. That’s a good sign for the event, no matter what the doubters have to say about the teams playing in it.
