The New York Giants are currently in first place in the NFC East, and after J.J. McCarthy impressed in Week 6, there's some real hope for this young team going forward.

Heading into Week 7, the Giants are facing off against the Houston Texans, a very difficult defense and a high-quality passing offense. Unfortunately for the Giants, they're not going to be at full strength on defense.

But, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, the news on the Giants' linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is terrible, as the veteran who's helped mentor rookie Arvell Reese is now going to miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a shoulder injury.

Tremaine Edmunds to miss rest of 2026 season for Giants with shoulder injury

"Giants LB Tremaine Edmunds' shoulder injury season-ending, per sources," Duggan reports. "Edmunds had played every defensive snap, helping rookie LB Arvell Reese's acclimation to the NFL."

This is a massive blow for the Giants, as Edmunds was the team's tackle leader, and he had already secured two sacks in his first season with the Giants after stints with the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears.

Reese and Edmunds have thrived as a duo, and now the Giants are going to be relying on a lot more from Micah McFadden going forward.

Edmunds now joins edge rusher Brian Burns and quarterback Jaxson Dart as key players the team has lost to season-ending injuries this season.

It's been a mess for the Giants, and things are only getting worse with this Edmunds report. This is some horrible news for Edmunds, and now the Giants will be without a key defender in the middle of the defense for the rest of the year.

John Harbaugh's first season with the Giants has been marred by injuries, and this latest one is another brutal blow for a defense that's now lost arguably their two best players in the first six weeks of the year.
