The Golden State Warriors could sure use Kristaps Porzingis right now. With the big man out indefinitely, they have fallen to 0-2 after a disastrous 111-108 defeat at home to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Dubs looked to be in control as they were up 12 with just under four minutes left in the fourth quarter. But they missed their last nine shots of the game to allow the Grizzlies to storm back. They went on a 17-0 run, which was capped off by rookie Cam Boozer’s go-ahead basket with 20 seconds left to seal the win for Memphis.

Warriors star Stephen Curry admitted after the game that losing the way they did to the Grizzlies was particularly painful.

“There’s losses and then there’s ways that you lose like tonight that kind of sting a little bit more,” Curry said.

Curry led the Warriors with 24 points, but he shot just 5 of 15 from the field. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg had a double double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski added 18 points as he returned after missing the season opener against the Lakers.

The sad reality for Stephen Curry is that this Warriors team is just not very good. With Porzingis and Jimmy Butler out, Curry is lacking another reliable offensive threat to play alongside. Luka Doncic beef aside, Lendeborg is doing a respectable job thus far, but the fact that they are relying so much on a rookie speaks volumes about the low quality of their roster.

Not every loss will be an epic collapse. But unless something drastic changes with their roster, Curry the Warriors will likely experience a lot of disappointing losses this season.
