Indiana center Bray Lynch on Josh Hoover’s play, toughness: ‘He’s a dog like that’
· Yahoo Sports
Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover made an impression on his teammates the moment he arrived in Bloomington this past offseason. Just ask Bray Lynch, the center he’s taken snaps from all season.
Lynch said he was unsurprised by Hoover’s drive to play through an arm injury against Ohio State and Michigan, saying that if he’d been asked back in the preseason if Hoover would do such a thing his response would be a simple “hell yeah.”

“He’s a dog like that,” Lynch said. “You saw it in spring ball, you see it in the weight room and you see it now on Saturdays.”
Hoover’s shown his toughness multiple times throughout the season, staying in for the Hoosiers’ season opener against North Texas despite blood pouring down his face from a nose injury he suffered after his facemask was grabbed. He’s even ran in to try and throw a few blocks for Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. during critical runs, namely against Northwestern.
Then came the Michigan game when Hoover battled through the aforementioned injury, ultimately delivering in overtime with a pass to tight end Brock Schott before diving into the endzone himself for the go ahead touchdown that ended up winning the day.
One thing that’s clear about Hoover is this: he’s more than earned the trust and respect of his teammates despite this being his first and only season in Bloomington. They’re willing to fight for him in the same way he is for them.
“We have full confidence in him,” Lynch said. “We knew that when the time arose to make a play, he was gonna find a way to get it done.”
