No Man’s Sky Gets Fresh Horror-Themed Forsaken Update Just a Month After Cosmos
· IGN

Just as No Man’s Sky lands for iOS, the ever-expanding space sim is getting a spooky new update in time for Halloween. Forsaken is the latest from Hello Games, which redeemed itself for No Man’s Sky’s poor launch years ago but just keeps going with massive free updates anyway.
Last month, the developer released the No Man’s Sky Cosmos update in time for the game’s tenth anniversary. Cosmos made space more exciting to explore, letting you get close to stars, build your own space station, and explore the wreckage of huge space hulks.

Forsaken aims to show the “darker side of the universe,” according to Hello Games. You’ll be able to search the universe for haunted technology and biological horrors to sell to eccentric traders, but to get them you’ll have to brave the most harrowing corners of the cosmos.
Trading the items grants new seasonal items, including “creepy and organic” shipbuilding options, from alien cockpits to unknowable modules. There are also new cosmetics for your character, from larva tank helmets to writhing, wormy multi-tools. Yummy.
On top of the seasonal stuff, there are also UI tweaks like a better radial menu, a minimal HUD option, and a bunch of other quality of life and accessibility options to tinker with. One of the coolest additions lets you warp straight to any star you can see from your cockpit.
The Forsaken update is available today on all platforms, including the newly minted No Man’s Sky for iOS. Check out the full patch notes on the No Man’s Sky website.
If you’re wondering why Hello Games just keeps going with No Man’s Sky — other than its massive popularity — just look at its upcoming game, Light No Fire. Light No Fire is a sword and sorcery RPG from the team that, instead of simulating an endless galaxy, simulates a more densely packed, to scale planet. An entire planet.
A lot of the updates and tweaks to No Man’s Sky are technical advances Hello Games is using to develop Light No Fire, which will let you soar across the skies on dragonback. We haven’t seen Light No Fire since The Game Awards 2023.
After the sketchy launch of No Man’s Sky, it seems like the Hello Games team plans to let the game speak for itself this time around.
