In an email, the SEC said the conference does not have a policy determining whether the stadium's roof must be open or closed for SEC games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
"There is not an SEC policy that would determine whether the roof is open or closed for SEC games at MBS," the SEC noted.
They added that the conference office chooses to close the roof for the SEC Championship Game in December, but said that practice does not establish a policy for this weekend's matchup.
It was also noted that the teams will work with Mercedes-Benz Stadium to determine if it will be open or closed.
The stadium's roof status for Saturday's game had not been confirmed at the time of publication.
"We're playing in Atlanta this year. What does that change? It doesn't," Kirby Smart said during the summer. "Let's be honest, just the venue we are playing in will be different.
"Sometimes down there wind is a big factor, heat. Going to be indoors in an incredible stadium and venue that we've gotten play in multiple times."
